Our Mission and Values
Our Mission
Wild Trout Foundation CIC exists to strengthen relationships—between people, place and the natural world. As a Community Interest Company, we create opportunities for children, families, schools, people in recovery and communities across Sussex to reconnect with nature through Forest School, Alternative Provision, climate education and nature-based wellbeing. We believe that when people feel connected to the natural world, to each other and to their community, they are better able to care for themselves, one another and the future we share.
Our Values
Relationship
Everything begins with relationship.
We are wired for connection. Yet being human is complicated, and relationships can be hard. We create spaces where people can slow down, feel at ease and practise being in relationship—with themselves, with one another and with the natural world.
Stewardship
We are visitors in the woods.
We choose to care for the places that care for us, encouraging everyone we work with to develop a sense of responsibility, respect and reciprocity with the natural world. We believe caring for nature begins with knowing it.
Compassion
Compassion underpins everything we do.
We choose to meet people with kindness, curiosity and without judgement. We believe every person has the right to belong, to be heard and to thrive, whatever their story.
Courage
"Courage starts with showing up." Brené Brown
We chose courage because relationships ask us to be authentic, compassion asks us to let go of fear, and stewardship asks us to think and act differently. Courage gives life to our other values.
