Our Story
Wild Trout Foundation didn't begin with a business plan.
It began with conversations
Conversations in the woods, around kitchen tables, beside campfires and over countless cups of tea. It grew through hours of writing, listening, questioning and dreaming. There were moments of excitement, moments of doubt and many times we wondered if we were brave enough to say the dream out loud.
We asked for help
Friends, colleagues, practitioners and strangers generously shared their time, wisdom and encouragement. We listened, changed our minds, challenged one another and slowly began to understand what Wild Trout Foundation wanted to become.
Along the way something shifted
What started as an idea gradually took on a life of its own. It gathered energy, found direction and eventually became a Community Interest Company.
We don't know exactly where the journey will lead, and we're comfortable with that.
Nature has taught us that healthy things grow, adapt and evolve. We want Wild Trout Foundation to do the same. We'll continue to stay curious, remain teachable and listen carefully to the people, communities and landscapes we have the privilege of working alongside.
Our values have been shaped slowly, challenged often and reduced to what feels essential: Relationship. Compassion. Stewardship. Courage. They continue to guide every conversation, every programme and every decision we make.
We're growing more than an organisation
We're growing a community.
If our story resonates with you and you feel you have something to offer, we'd love to hear from you. Whether you're an educator, practitioner, volunteer, advisor, researcher, potential director or someone who simply shares our vision, there's a place for you in the conversation.
Wild Trout Foundation will never be built by one person.
